How many people working in large format digital printing are aware that the use of professional colour management technology can significantly reduce costs to their business? Graphic Display Community finds out more from Italian colour management expert Barbieri electronic.

Within the world of digital large format and industrial printing, costs, as in any other business type, can be identified as being one of two types: fixed or variable. Fixed costs include such expenditure as printers and the business premises. These, as the term suggests, are fixed no matter how many prints will be printed or sold.

In February 2010, leading CADCAM (Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing) developer Delcam, is due to release its latest software range, ArtCAM 2010, to the signage industry. Graphic Display Community finds out more about the range, which includes an entry-level, ArtCAM Express for users new to CNC machining, ArtCAM Insignia for production machining and ArtCAM Pro for more complex design and manufacturing.

Each one of these products has been designed by Delcam to give a smooth transition from design to the finished article regardless of the type of signage required, such as modular, custom-made, bulk or traditional signage. Sign-makers can begin their flat or three dimensional designs directly in ArtCAM or, if they choose, they can first sketch their ideas on paper or design the piece in a familiar CAD package, which can then be scanned or imported directly into the software.

Take a long hard look at your business and above all ask yourselves, what is it that your customers are looking for today?
London display specialist Ltd has developed its own kind of media alchemy. Its two proprietors have perfected the art of mixing and matching substrates and other media to develop highly-customised solutions for its top flight clientele.

Graphic Display Community found out more when it recently visited the business.
Digital signage has hardly taken the print community by surprise – but could it be a creeping innovation that eventually surpasses print on some jobs, asks FESPA’s Marcus Timson.

DS (this means digital signage obviously), is arguably an effective marketing tool in high density environments (indoors and outdoors) with transient and potentially lucrative audiences. But it is still unproven, in my opinion.
Through belief and raw determination, one Italian print service provider has used a bold online model to win significant volumes of business throughout Europe.

Today pixart.it has the financial stability, hardware investment and experience to exploit the benefits of digital print technology on a huge scale. Graphic Display Community visited Marghera, near Venice, to find out more.
